“Water available. Vault toilets really clean. No firewood for sale at campground; but the lazy trout store down the road has it. Overall a great place”
“Nice campground, well kept and friendly staff. But over priced shower facilities. ”
“Jim was a great host. The campsites were in great shape and it was a very nice weekend!”

Benny Creek Group Area sits high in the White Mountains at about 8,250 feet, with campsites beneath an open canopy of ponderosa pine and a steady soundtrack of Benny Creek nearby. The campground is within walking distance of Bunch Reservoir and the trio of Greer Lakes on the Little Colorado River, so trout fishing and casual boating are common day activities; anglers should expect good creek and lake trout opportunities. Hikers can head out to nearby Squirrel Springs Trail, and drivers who prefer a scenic route can follow stretches of the White Mountain and Coronado Trail Scenic Byways. Wildlife is a part of the experience here Abert squirrels and chipmunks are frequent at campsites, and mule deer and elk move through the surrounding forest and summer days are generally mild thanks to the elevation, though afternoon thunderstorms from late June through August and cool nights are typical, so come prepared for rain and layers. The site layout and rules favor groups and mixed camping rigs: three group camping areas accommodate groups (listed capacities include options up to 24 or 32 guests) and the campground also shows nine total campsites that are configured to serve both tents and RVs. Individual sites and the group areas are sometimes available on a walk-in, first-come-first-served basis when not reserved, and the campground can accept trailers and small motorhomes up to 24 feet; a dump station is available across the highway at Hoyer Campground. For supplies, fuel and rentals, the village of Greer is the nearest service center. To reach Benny Creek, drive about 42 miles southeast from Show Low on Highway 260, then follow Highway 373 south for roughly 2.5 miles to the campground entrance; for facility-specific questions call (928) 537-8888. The broader Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest around Benny Creek also supports mountain biking, horseback riding and camping, off-highway vehicle use, picnicking and wildlife viewing, so plan side trips if your group wants more than a lakeside weekend.
