Perched on the east bank of the Little River where it feeds into Millwood Lake, White Cliffs Campground occupies a stretch of shoreline framed by a 100-foot chalk bluff and a tract of chalk woodland that is among the largest, least disturbed examples in Arkansas. The nearby White Cliffs Natural Area has a nature trail that winds through knolls, ridges and ravines, and provides easy access to the bluff for birdwatching and short hikes. Millwood Lake is a major draw: with some 20,000 acres of submerged timber it is regularly ranked among the top fishing lakes in the country, supporting largemouth, white, striped and spotted bass, channel and flathead catfish, bluegill, sunfish, buffalo, carp and drum. Birders come here for a reason more than 309 species have been recorded in the Millwood area while hunters and wildlife observers will find the surrounding habitat diverse and productive. Facilities at White Cliffs are straightforward and practical for both tent campers and RVs: TOTAL CAMPSITES: 25, with 25 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites; the campground's 25 paved sites include water and electrical hookups, and visitors have access to flush toilets, showers and a trailer dump station. On-site amenities include a boat ramp, bank-fishing access, a playground and an adjacent protected natural area with a hiking trail, making it easy to combine boating, fishing, water sports, hiking, picnicking and wildlife viewing in one trip. The campground sits about six miles south of Cowlingsville on State Highway 317, with nearby towns such as Ashdown, Nashville (AR) and Texarkana providing supplies and services. Fees, reservation policies and seasonal availability can change, so check with the managing agency before you go to confirm current rules and to reserve a site if needed.
