Beard's Bluff Park sits on the eastern arm of Millwood Lake, about 13 miles east of Ashdown along State Highway 32, and it feels very much like a place shaped by water and birds. Low bluffs and dense forest frame most campsites, and many sites look directly across the water or down small coves of the Little River where boat lanes carve a path through the lake. That open-water access makes the area popular with anglers chasing largemouth bass and catfish and with water-sport enthusiasts who launch from the campground; outside the marked channels you'll find the submerged timber and aquatic vegetation that attract fish and waterfowl. Birdwatchers will want to linger Millwood Lake draws more than 300 species through the year, including American bald eagles and great white pelicans, and Beard's Bluff includes a dedicated birding overlook and a shoreline spot well suited to watching sunsets. Trails, picnic areas and a playground, plus other park sport sites nearby, round out on-land activities like hiking, picnicking, and general wildlife viewing. The campground is small and straightforward: there are 22 total campsites, and each site is set up to accommodate both RVs and tents. Sites are furnished with picnic tables, grills, fire rings and lantern poles, and utilities include 30/50 amp electrical service and water hydrants at sites; potable water, flush toilets and showers are distributed throughout the campground, and there is one centrally located sewage dump station. Because official fees, reservation windows and seasonal closures can change, plan to check the managing agency's current guidance before you go; access is by State Highway 32 (from Ashdown, drive east across Millwood Dam toward the park), and nearby towns for supplies include Nashville, Ashdown and Texarkana.
