Clear Spring Park sits along the edge of Wright Patman Lake in the piney woods south of Texarkana, where pines slope down to shorelines that put many campsites right at the water's edge. The campground is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and offers a full range of overnight options across 101 total campsites: 88 sites set up for both RVs and tents and 13 tent-only sites. For hookups and facilities you'll find 41 sites with 30-amp electric and sewer, 22 sites with 50-amp service, 25 additional 30-amp sites, 10 non-electric sites, three screened shelters, and a group camping area that can host up to 100 people and includes a screened shelter, restrooms, showers and 12 campsites with water and electricity. Loop counts are posted at the park ALOO has 25 sites, ALOO includes 1 30-amp site, and ELOO has 20 sites so campers can pick a spot close to the water, near the boat ramp, or tucked back into the pines. The three screened shelters each have water, a ceiling fan, table, campfire ring, grill and covered porch (one with a deck above the waterfront), and day-use groups can reserve the picnic shelter for gatherings. The park's recreation offerings stretch from family-friendly to more rugged pursuits. On-site you'll find a swim beach, playground, volleyball and basketball courts, a courtesy-dock-equipped boat ramp, hiking and nature trails, and facilities geared to anglers and boaters who come for largemouth bass, catfish, crappie and sunfish. Wright Patman Lake's broader public lands about 55,000 acres of Corps-managed forest support wildlife viewing (including wintering bald eagles, pelicans and migratory ducks), water sports, horseback riding and seasonal hunting; be aware that the area also hosts venomous snakes, so keep campsites and trails tidy and watch where you step. For practical matters like fees, reservations and seasonal availability, contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or the park's reservation system before you go; access from Texarkana is straightforward, heading south on Highway 59 and then west on FM 2148 to the Wright Patman Lake entrance. Nearby Texarkana and the region offer restaurants, museums and festivals, so you can combine a lakeside stay with a dose of local culture.
