What guests say

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (143 reviews, ★ 4.0). Not written or edited by us.

“Beautiful Park and we enjoyed our stay very much...the only negative would be the site was unlevel with a large bulge in the asphalt right in the middle of the site. We worked around it and enjoyed our stay and will be back! ”

Dennis m 4 · Oct 2025 · Recreation.gov

“Go to overnight when traveling up 59. Easy in and out. Beautiful views of lake.”

About

Piney Point Park sits on the western shore of Wright Patman Lake amid the tall pines of northeast Texas, offering a straightforward, well-equipped base for lake-focused camping and day use. The campground contains 52 total campsites: 45 both RV sites & tent sites and 7 tent sites, laid out in two loops ALOO: 45 sites and Loop B: 7 sites. Forty-five of the sites provide water and electricity, and every site includes a picnic table, grill, utility table and trash can. For basic comforts you'll find restrooms, showers and a dump station on site, plus a group picnic shelter (day use only) that seats up to 75 people. The park address is 710 Piney Point Park Road, Queen City, TX 75572; from Texarkana drive south on Highway 59 to Wright Patman Lake and, just south of the Sulphur River Dam, follow park signs for the one-mile entrance to Piney Point (it sits just north of Rocky Point Park). For current fees, reservation requirements and seasonal availability contact the park or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers office that manages the lake. The lake itself and the surrounding Corps-managed forest open up a wide array of activities: a boat ramp puts you on 30,000 surface acres of water for boating, water sports and fishing (bass, catfish, crappie and sunfish are commonly targeted), while a 1.3-mile hiking trail links Piney Point to nearby Rocky Point Campground and its swimming beach. Families will appreciate open shaded areas, a playground and a volleyball court for kids and groups; the larger recreation area also supports horseback riding, specialty sport sites, concession services and other organized recreation. Wildlife is a major draw white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobwhite quail, squirrels and plentiful waterfowl are common, and winter brings migrating ducks, pelicans and bald eagles; be aware some venomous snakes inhabit the piney woods. If you want to mix outdoor time with regional culture, Texarkana's museums, historic sites and festivals are a short drive away and Shreveport's entertainment and larger events lie further south.
