Malden Lake Campground sits on the shore of Wright Patman Lake amid the region's piney woods, where a thick canopy shades campsites that look out across the reservoir's 30,000 surface acres. The facility contains 38 campsites each configured to accommodate both RVs and tents and every site includes water and electric hookups, a picnic table, grill, utility table, lantern post and trash can; ten of those sites provide 50-amp service for larger rigs. RV users will find a dump station on site, and anglers and boaters can make use of a boat ramp and a courtesy dock. Behind the H Loop there's a short trail system for walking through the pines, and the setting supports abundant wildlife viewing expect to see white-tailed deer, squirrels, wild turkey and wintering bald eagles, pelicans and migratory ducks (and be mindful that some poisonous snakes are present). Recreation on Wright Patman Lake stretches from boating, fishing and water sports to hiking, picnicking, playground-use and horseback riding on nearby trails; anglers commonly pursue bass, catfish, crappie and sunfish. The Corps of Engineers manages the surrounding public forestland, which also supports hunting and a concession-operated recreation presence in the broader area. Malden Lake is open year-round for camping, but fees, reservation windows and any seasonal restrictions can change call the local office at (903) 585-2497 or general information at (903) 838-8781 for current details. The park address is 230 Malden Lake Road, Maud, TX 75567; from I-30, head to New Boston and follow Highway 8 south through Maud, then turn onto the park road about six miles south. Nearby towns such as Texarkana and Shreveport offer additional museums, festivals and services if you want to combine a lake stay with local events or amenities.
