“Campground was so nice, well maintained and nice bathrooms/showers. Very quiet and lots of green grass and trees. A new go to for us!”

Old Post Road sits on the western shore of Dardanelle Lake between the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests, where the Arkansas River widens into roughly 40,000 acres of water and nearly 315 miles of shoreline. The campground is framed by stretches of hardwoods and open lake views that make it a strong spot for wildlife watching; the river valley is a well-known wintering area for bald eagles and the nearby Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge adds additional opportunities for photography and birding. Water-based recreation dominates here fishing, boating and other water sports are the main draws but the area also supports biking and informal nature study, with a biking trail that begins at the campground and visitor amenities in the broader park area. The campground itself contains 45 sites in total: 39 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents, and 6 tent-only sites. Many of the RV-capable sites include water and electric hookups and are reservable; the park provides a boat ramp for lake access, multiple picnic areas, a playground, and organized recreation spaces including soccer and baseball fields and tennis courts. Access to Old Post Road is off SR-7 via Lock and Dam Road for about a mile; a downloadable park map is available here: https://cdn.recreation.gov/public/2021/07/14/18/08/232662_6c56e271-f446-432c-9b37-28a80ebe3417.pdf.
