“We had a great time at this campground. There is a trail on site, it has a natural rock bridge formation. The bathrooms were clean and pretty new. I think any nature lover would love this location. ”
“Camp hosts are excellent, bath houses are kept clean and stocked, overall park is clean. Pads, picnic tables, fire rings are in great shape. Please repair the light on the southern most boat ramp.”

Shoal Bay Campground sits along the narrow Shoal Bay arm of Lake Dardanelle, a broad reservoir on the Arkansas River with roughly 40,000 acres of water and 315 miles of shoreline between the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests. The setting is heavy on lake access and wildlife: anglers will find white bass, largemouth bass, bream, crappie and large catfish in these waters, and the river valley is a well-known wintering area for bald eagles a plus for wildlife viewing and photography. Trails and interpretation are close at hand: the Bridge Rock Trail climbs a rugged slope overlooking the narrows of Shoal Creek, and Dardanelle's Visitor Center, with its "Renaissance of a River" exhibits, provides historical and environmental context. Within the broader Dardanelle Lake area you'll also find opportunities for boating, water sports, biking, environmental education, picnicking, and playground activities; Bona Dea Trails and Sanctuary, a nearby 86-acre wetland and low-woods preserve, offers roughly six miles of trails for quiet birding and nature walks. The campground itself contains 79 campsites in a mix that supports both tents and RVs: 77 sites are suitable for both RVs and tents and 2 are tent-only. Sites are organized into named loops (Loop A: 7 sites; Loop B: 14 sites; Loop C: 9 sites; Loop D: 9 sites; Loop E: 8 sites; Loop F: 4 sites; Loop G: 11 sites; Loop H: 9 sites; Loop P: 8 sites), and many sites are reservable with most offering electrical hookups. Facilities include a boat ramp, drinking water, two large picnic shelters, a playground, and hot showers practical conveniences that make launches, family days, and longer stays easier. Access to Shoal Bay is straightforward from New Blaine take State Route 197 north a short distance and follow signs into the campground but fees, reservation windows, seasonal closures, and any vehicle or group limits change, so check the park's reservation portal or contact the visitor center before you go to confirm current rates and availability.
