“Overall experience was good. Not great but good. The site we stayed at was tight with not much room in-between each site. The bathrooms could have been cleaner. The area was beautiful and quiet which was nice. 3 out of 5 stars”
“Have been coming here since a child and this atmosphere is peaceful not party!”

NIMROD LAKE PROJECT OFFICE
Open in Google Maps ↗
Quarry Cove Campground sits on the shore of Nimrod Lake and Dam between the Ouachita and Ozark ranges, where tall pines shade 31 roomy campsites and the lake's low, rolling shoreline. The campground's sites include 30 that accommodate both RVs and tents plus one tent-only site, so groups with mixed equipment will usually find appropriate space; a single large day-use group picnic shelter provides a focal point for family gatherings. Within the campground you'll find a swimming beach, a boat ramp for quick water access, and a playground for kids, and the surrounding landscape is part of a broader 21,000-acre recreation area formed after Nimrod Dam was completed in 1942 for flood control and water-resource development. Quarry Cove is easily reached from Highway 7 (the National Scenic Byway) south of Ola, with US-60 close by, and makes a convenient base for day trips to Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, or Hot Springs National Park. The lake is best-known for fishing expect catfish, bluegill, crappie and bass and boating is popular: there are 11 boat ramps around Nimrod Lake and water-skiing and tubing are allowed only from the tip of Carden Point eastward toward the dam because areas to the west are hazardous. Beyond water sports, activities around Quarry Cove include hiking, picnicking, wildlife viewing and playground use; wildlife commonly seen here includes white-tailed deer, wild turkey, quail, squirrel, rabbit, fox, mink, black bear, dove and a variety of waterfowl, and seasonal hunting is permitted across the lake except within or adjacent to recreation areas. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal openings and any access restrictions, check with the campground's managing office before you go so you have current rules and availability.
