“The camp ground was nice and quite. The only small. Complaint that I have is the bathrooms could have been cleaner.”
“The grass was high. There were several wasp nests under the pavilion. We had to watch the kids closely because the wasps were everywhere ”

Note: this is Cherokee Park on the Arkansas River in Morrilton, Arkansas not the Cherokee Park at Greers Ferry. The campground sits on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the engineered navigation pools and locks that carry traffic up the 445-mile navigation reach of the Arkansas River toward Oklahoma; the Arkansas itself runs 1,450 miles from the Rocky Mountains through several states to the Mississippi. From Highway 64 in Morrilton you head south on AR-21 and take Quincy Drive to reach the park. The river setting defines the place: there's a launch and dock for small powerboats and water-sports access, good shore fishing, and open river flats where wintering bald eagles congregate after migrating from the Great Lakes and Canada. Petit Jean State Park is a short drive away for additional trails and overlooks, and a park map, comment form and special-event permit are available online; for local details call (501) 500-1787 or for general information call (501) 340-1004. The campground itself has 33 sites in total 30 sites equipped for both RVs and tents, 1 RV-only site and 2 tent-only sites each with water and either 30- or 50-amp electric hookups. Practical facilities include hot showers, two large group picnic shelters, a playground, and the boat ramp and dock right at the water's edge, which makes the site well suited for families who want a mix of camping, fishing, picnicking and boating. Reservation and cancellation rules are strict: cancelling the day before or on the day of arrival incurs a $10 service fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total amount paid); a one-night reservation cancelled forfeits the entire amount paid without an additional service fee. Once a reservation date has begun, it cannot be changed online or by calling the Call Center, so plan arrival and cancellations accordingly.
