Perched on the southern shore of DeGray Lake in the lower foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, Iron Mountain Campground puts you steps from clear, deep water that comes from the Caddo River and spreads across about 13,500 acres one of the region's Diamond Lakes. The campground's shoreline location makes boating and other water sports the dominant draw: a boat ramp and a full-service marina make launching easy, and the lake is regularly stocked with game fish, including hybrid striped bass, so both bank and boat anglers find plenty to do. Around the lake, hiking and horseback riding trails trace the shore and work their way into the foothills; the broader DeGray Lake recreation complex also offers a visitor center, a swimming pool at the state park, a lodge and golf course, group camp facilities with a dining hall and sleep shelters, and easy day-trip access to the Ouachita National Forest and Hot Springs National Park. The campground itself provides a practical mix of sites and services for overnight stays: there are 68 reservable campsites in total, of which 29 accommodate both RVs and tents and 39 are RV-only, and electrical hookups are available at sites. Comfort facilities include flush toilets and heated showers; families will also find a playground on site. Because the marina and ramp are adjacent, Iron Mountain is especially convenient for boaters and anglers, and the park's range of lake activities extends to swimming and scuba diving in appropriate areas. Sites are reservable check the USACE or DeGray Lake State Park website or contact the park office for current fees, seasonal availability, and any access requirements and the campground is reached within a short drive north of Interstate 30 (exit 78) along State Highway 7 and Skyline Drive toward Iron Mountain Road.
