“No water, which was expected, no toilet paper, which was not expected. Too expensive for just a parking place. Nice landscaping. ”
“Great location near the lake. The campground has flush toilets and running water. The RV dump costs here, which we feel should be included if we paid for a campsite. Otherwise the site was very nice. ”
“We stayed very early in the Fall. The campground was peaceful, uncrowded, and mostly quiet. The setting is fabulous--charming camp area, no huge rigs, no hook-ups so that eliminates many would-be large RV's. The views are awesome and the beach area wonderful. ”

Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area
Open in Google Maps ↗
Spring Canyon Campground sits on a gently green stretch of shore within Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, a portion of the Columbia River turned into a 130-mile lake by Grand Coulee Dam. The campground itself is divided into two loops an Upper Loop with 47 sites and a Lower Loop with 31 totaling 78 campsites; 74 of those accommodate both RVs and tents while four are tent-only. Sites are a short walk from the water, and the facility includes a boat ramp and docks for easy launching, though there are no electrical or sewer hookups for trailers. A designated day-use water access area with a small beach and playground is about 300 yards downhill from the campsites, and the Bunchgrass Prairie Nature Trail offers a brief sagebrush walk if you want to stretch your legs off the shoreline. Wildlife is common here watch for eagles and osprey over the lake and a wide variety of fish below the surface; summer water temperatures are often comfortable for swimming despite much of the inflow coming from snowmelt high in the Canadian Rockies. Practical details matter: Spring Canyon is open year-round but the campground's water is shut off for winter months, and the site is unstaffed, so plan accordingly. All camping at Spring Canyon is by reservation only through recreation.gov; changes and cancellations must also be handled there. Note the cancellation policy for late changes: if you cancel the day before or on your arrival date you will be charged a $10 service fee and forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid), and one-night reservations cancelled will forfeit the entire amount paid. The campground is about three miles from the Grand Coulee Dam where a seasonal laser light show runs Memorial Day weekend through September 30 and basic services can be found in the nearby town of Grand Coulee; for general information you can reach the Lake Roosevelt main office at (509) 754-7889. Activities on offer in the broader recreation area include boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and swimming, making Spring Canyon a good base for water-focused trips and short explorations of the lake's rocky, flood-carved shoreline.
