“Can’t give a 5 star review, our stay was during the week of 4th of July. It was quiet, relaxing, then it got crowded for the holiday. Our site was to close to another. Wasn’t quiet anymore.”
“We love camping at lower twins every one feels like family there looking out for one another and Wilson is the best he helps any way he can . ”
“Camp site areas were well kept. Bathhouse was always very clean and well kept. ”

Lower Twin Campground sits on the shores of the John W. Flannagan Reservoir in the rolling Cumberland Mountains of southwest Virginia, a short drive from the dam and roughly a quarter mile down Corps Lower Twin Road off VA Route 611. The reservoir itself covers about 1,145 acres with nearly 40 miles of shoreline and is maintained at nearly 1,400 feet above sea level, so campsites often open on wooded benches or gentle slopes with quick views into deep coves. The campground has 33 sites in all 25 designated for RV use and 8 for tents and several sites offer electric hookups. Basic on-site amenities include bath houses, playgrounds for kids, launch ramps for boats, and picnic shelters equipped with grills and horseshoe pits that make the area convenient for group gatherings without leaving camp. Recreation here centers on the water: anglers seek largemouth bass, walleye and stocked trout in secluded coves, while boaters, canoeists and paddlers can explore long stretches of shoreline or put in at the campground launch. Beyond fishing and water sports, the broader project lands provide hiking and biking opportunities and sit adjacent to Jefferson National Forest for more remote trails and wildlife viewing. Breaks Interstate Park is close by for visitors who want additional options lodging, dining, a small museum, guided rafting and canoeing, and rock-climbing terrain are all nearby. For practical matters like fees, reservation windows, seasonal openings and any vehicle or boating rules, check with the managing Corps of Engineers office before you go so you have current information on reservations and access.
