“The hostess was very approachable. Bathroom always cleaned. Water spigot was very accessible at site # 35. Campground was near a general store.”
“Awesome host. Could tell she cared and worked hard to keep campground clean and inviting.”
“Great location with all the different parks so close. Be sure to check out Burger Barn down the road and Pangutich Lake itself”

Panguitch Lake sits high on the Colorado Plateau at about 8,400 feet, the campground tucked into a stand of ponderosa pine on a hillside roughly a quarter mile above the water. The lake lives up to its Paiute-derived name "big fish" with regular catches of rainbow, brook, cutthroat and brown trout, and two public boat landings (one on the south shore and another at Wildlife Point on the north shore) that make launching a canoe, kayak or small boat straightforward. For riders and riders-of-a-different-sort, the Markagunt OHV trail system radiates out of the area with some 300 miles of routes; note that OHVs cannot be ridden in or out of the campground and must be trailered to trailheads. Hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers will find plenty of options nearby, and the site is a practical base for quick visits to Cedar Breaks National Monument (about 14 miles away), the Ashdown Gorge Wilderness and even Bryce Canyon National Park roughly 30 minutes down the road. The campground itself spans both sides of Highway 143, with the larger north loop offering single and double sites plus three group sites and the smaller south loop reserved strictly for tent camping (no reservations accepted for the south side). In total there are 50 campsites 48 designed for both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites and accessible sites are available on the north side. Amenities are basic but useful: paved campground roadways and parking spurs, flush toilets and drinking water, a nearby dump station just east of the campground (fill your tanks there there are no electrical or sewer hookups at sites), and a few communal features like a horseshoe pit, a volleyball area (bring your own net and ball) and an amphitheater that can be reserved for group use. Wildlife viewing is common deer and elk frequent the trees and because conditions at 8,400 feet can change with the seasons, check the Forest Service or recreation.gov for current fees, seasonal access and reservation rules before you go.
