Rosebud ATV Campground sits high on the Colorado Plateau at about 8,300 feet on the east side of Boulder Mountain, tucked into a stand of ponderosa pines with Pleasant Creek running alongside the site. It's reached from Highway 12 via Forest Road 186, roughly 16 17 miles south/southeast of Torrey, Utah, and serves as a quiet, compact base for exploring the surrounding backcountry. The campground is immediately adjacent to the Rosebud ATV Trail, so the soundscape here often includes the rumble of off-highway vehicles and the sight of riders heading toward Lower Bowns Reservoir, where fishing and small-boat recreation are possible. Capitol Reef National Park sits about 30 miles away and the drive along Highway 12 is a popular scenic route for visitors who want to combine desert canyon sightseeing with high-country forest camping. Facilities at Rosebud are minimal and straightforward: vault toilets are provided, and the site contains 3 campsites total each of the 3 sites is set up to accommodate both tents and RVs. There are no other developed services listed on site, so plan to be self-sufficient with water, packing out trash, and bringing any supplies you'll need. The campground's character is very much oriented toward outdoor recreation in Fishlake National Forest off-highway vehicle use is the primary draw here, but the broader forest offers hiking, biking, fishing, boating, wildlife viewing, horseback riding and hunting among other activities.
