“Eagleview is beautiful! It’s quiet and super clean. The caretaker/host does an amazing job with the upkeep. The restrooms are clean and actually smell good. The river views are beautiful. We enjoy our stay each year.”
“When I got there I was immediately impressed with the outstanding cleanliness and order of the entire place. The pavilion with the large fire pit outside of it was perfect for evening fireside talks, stories and songs…”

Eagleview Group Campground sits on a broad bend of the Umpqua River, roughly midway between Roseburg and the Oregon coast, where the river has cut a wide canyon framed by densely forested mountainsides. The site's character is defined by the river more than anything else: riffles and deeper pools change with the seasons, and the water here supports runs of chinook, coho and steelhead as well as smallmouth bass at the right times of year. The campground lies along the Umpqua River Scenic Byway corridor, so it's an easy stop for travelers making the 45-mile drive toward Reedsport and Winchester Bay or for those combining river recreation with winery stops near Elkton or a visit to the Dean Creek elk viewing area. The name "Umpqua" is a reminder of the region's Indigenous roots and carries several translations, including "thundering waters" or "across the waters," which is fitting given the river's prominence at the site. Designed for groups rather than single-site campers, Eagleview has ten campsites that together can accommodate up to 100 people and offers the kind of facilities a large party needs: a covered pavilion, a group picnic area and one large communal fire pit for evening gatherings. The grounds include a grassy field set up for informal games bocce ball, croquet and Frisbee and there are horseshoe pits and a small disc-golf layout on site. Water-based recreation is the main draw; people launch kayaks and canoes, float stretches of the Umpqua, or wade and swim on hot days, while anglers fish for seasonal salmon, steelhead and bass (species availability varies by season). For access, the campground is reached from the Sutherlin area by heading west on Highway 138 toward the coast and turning at the Bullock Bridge onto County Road 57; the campground sits about a mile down that road on the right. Note that detailed campsite-type listings may not appear in the Recreation.gov database, so if you're planning a large group trip it's worth verifying availability and any reservation requirements before you go.
