“We enjoyed our stay at this campground. We saw and heard lots of wildlife. ”
“Loved the availability of electricity! Such a lovely place to hike and recreate. Might be good to let people know that noise from the ski resort garage was heard regularly, but no other complaints. ”
“ Neighbors across the road played their music (complete with speakers that measured 1' X 3') until 11. I was not a fan. I came to GO TO THE WOODS, to nature. Not a fan of being around ppl who intrude on the quiet of nature by bringing their city cr*p with them. ”

Mud Lake Campground is a small, high-elevation site (7,100 feet) set immediately across from the Anthony Lake Ski Area and just a short walk from Mud Lake in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The campground contains 7 total sites that accommodate both RVs and tents; six of those are reservable standard electrical sites and the seventh is a standard non-electric site. Sites vary in character some are shaded under dense pine and fir, others open onto a meadow and every site includes a picnic table and grill. Vault toilets are on-site, but potable water is not available at Mud Lake itself; drinking water can be obtained at the nearby Anthony Lake Campground and the Anthony Lake Day Use Area. Because the campground is compact, plan ahead when making reservations and keep in mind that its elevation helps keep conditions comfortable during the hottest parts of summer. Recreation centers on Anthony Lake and the surrounding Elkhorn Mountains: boating, canoeing, kayaking and trout fishing are all available at Anthony Lake (there is an accessible boat ramp), while trails range from the 22.6-mile Elkhorn Crest to shorter routes such as the 1-mile Black Lake Trail (hiking and horseback) and the 1-mile Shoreline Trail (hiking only). Mountain bikers will find over 8 miles of single-track nearby plus a downhill flow trail at the ski area, and short walks across Forest Road 73 reward you with views of the ski area, Gunsight Peak and the Elkhorn range along the Elkhorn Scenic Byway. The campground is reached via the Anthony Lake Highway/Forest Road 73 from communities like Haines, Baker City and North Powder; payment in full is charged when you reserve, a $10 service fee applies to reservation changes or cancellations (late cancellations can incur additional fees), and a $10 non-refundable online reservation fee may be charged for some facilities see the NRRS reservation policy for full details.
