“Rustic camping in central Oregon. Close to many outdoor activities. We stopped here after going to Blue Pool ( about an hour away)”
“We had never stayed here but it is now one we will keep on our list of go to’s. It was relatively quiet and sites weren’t on top of each other. Bob the host was very friendly and helpful.”

Drive into Whispering Falls and the approach road becomes a transition from highway to forest: tall Douglas-fir and mature western red cedar flank the entrance and ferns and rhododendron carpet the understory. The campground sits at roughly 2,000 feet along the North Santiam River in the North Santiam Travel Corridor of the Willamette National Forest, and its 15 campsites all accommodate both tents and RVs. Picnic tables, metal grills and vault toilets are distributed through the loop, drinking-water spigots are available at several locations, and most sites offer views down to the river. There are no site counts or hookup details beyond the 15 mixed-use spots, so if you need a guaranteed space, want to confirm fees, or have questions about seasonal water or road conditions, call the facility at (801) 226-3564 before you go and be prepared to follow current forest fire restrictions. Recreation radiates outward from the campground: anglers can fish the North Santiam River for rainbow trout right from nearby riverbanks, while hikers and mountain bikers will find a wide range of trail options within easy driving distance Coffin Mountain Trail Area (including Coffin Lookout and Bugaboo Ridge), the Mt. Jefferson Pamelia Lake trails, and the steeper Minto Mountain Trail are all reachable from this corridor. A short drive brings you to Detroit Lake for boating, water-skiing and kayaking, and the Marion Forks Fish Hatchery on Marion and Horn Creeks is an interesting stop to see rainbow trout, summer steelhead and spring chinook operations. More broadly, the Willamette National Forest offers biking, picnicking, wildlife viewing, winter sports, horse camping, OHV riding, fire-lookout stays and other backcountry opportunities plan activities according to season and check trail, water and road conditions before heading out.
