Highway 9 Landing Campground sits on the sandy stretches of Eufaula Lake's shoreline in the rolling green hills east of Eufaula, about nine miles along Highway 9. The campground contains 71 sites in total: 70 sites set up for both RVs and tents and a single tent-only site, many positioned to give quick access to the water. On-site amenities include a paved boat ramp for launching pontoons, bass boats and kayaks, a sandy swimming beach for warm-weather dips, a playground for kids, and a large reservable group picnic shelter that can accommodate up to 100 guests; a marina lies nearby for fuel and supplies. Sites are spread along the lakeshore so you can expect a mix of beach frontage and tree-lined spots that shelter campers from sun and wind fall brings a clear change in the hills when maples and oaks turn color. Because specifics on fees, hookups and reservation windows change seasonally, plan to reserve sites and the group shelter in advance and check the park's reservation system or contact park staff for current policies. The lake itself is the dominant reason visitors come: Eufaula is the largest lake located entirely in Oklahoma, with roughly 102,000 surface acres and more than 600 miles of shoreline that range from wide sandy beaches to rocky bluffs. Fishing is a major draw here crappie, sand bass, catfish and black bass reach notable sizes in the main lake, and anglers below the dam have taken striped bass over 40 pounds in the tailwaters. Beyond fishing, Highway 9 Landing is a good base for boating, kayaking and other water sports, and hiking trails follow the shoreline and climb the surrounding hills. The wider area supports horseback riding, off-highway vehicle riding and wildlife viewing, with environmental-education programs and concession services available seasonally; nearby Robber's Cave State Park and two state parks on Eufaula Lake add golf, pools and additional trail networks. For services off-site, the historic town of Eufaula plus McAlester and the nearby Krebs area known for Italian eateries provide additional dining, shopping and lodging options.
