Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (30 reviews, ★ 4.0). Not written or edited by us.
“Showers one stall no drain cover or water, next stall standing water not draining and no hot water. Only one stall usable with no hot water. For the amount of money spent on camp site you think repairs should be made.”
“The restrooms and the shower houses are in the need of a very good cleaning. Some shower drains were stopped up. Showers had spiders in them. The camp grounds were good. I will go back to Snake Creek. We don’t ready need the bath houses. ”
“Bug control was horrible. The amount of fire ants in the facility was the worst I have ever seen. ”

Snake Creek is one of the busiest campgrounds on Tenkiller Ferry Lake, sitting on the lake's western shoreline in the Cookson Hills about 15 miles northeast of Gore off Highway 100. The larger lake 12,500 acres with roughly 130 miles of shoreline fed by the Illinois River and Baron Fork gives Snake Creek its water-focused character: clear water with high visibility that attracts scuba divers, sheltered coves favored by sailors, and wide-open water for powerboating and water skiing. Anglers will find bass, crappie, white and striped bass and catfish in the lake, while the trout stream below the dam is one of only two year-round trout fisheries in Oklahoma and is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Wildlife watching is a draw here too; oak-hickory ridges and rocky bluffs around the lake are home to deer and turkey and serve as a flyway for migrating birds such as bald eagles, loons and white pelicans. Hunting is permitted on most project lands outside of park boundaries and dam areas under state and federal rules maps and hunting-area details are available from the project office and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation's public hunting atlas. Practical camping at Snake Creek is straightforward and well equipped: the campground contains 112 sites in total, of which 109 are configured for both RVs and tents and 3 are tent-only sites, and every campsite includes electrical hookups. Park amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, water hydrants, a dump station, a swim beach and a playground, plus group shelters that have electricity. Boat ramps are nearby and a full-service marina with concessions sits adjacent to the campground, reflecting the lake's broader support for boating and rentals available at many marinas around Tenkiller. The campground is operated as part of the lake's combined Corps, state and concessionaire system, so fees, reservation options and seasonal details are set by those managing agencies call or check their websites for current policies, maps and safety notices before you go.
