Strayhorn Landing sits on a low peninsula along Tenkiller Ferry Lake and offers a clear, roomy base for water-focused camping and wildlife watching. The campground has 42 sites in total: 40 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 tent-only sites, and every site is equipped with electric hookups; group shelters on site also have electricity. Practical, campground-level services include flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, water hydrants and a playground, plus a swim beach and a day-use area. A marina with concessions is adjacent to the campground, and the broader lake supports ten marinas and more than 20 launching ramps, so launching a boat, renting personal watercraft, or boarding a floating restaurant is straightforward. Because the campground provides full electrical service and a dump station, it works well for RVs as well as traditional tent camping, but check with the project office or reservation system for current fees, reservation windows and seasonal availability before you go. The setting around Strayhorn Landing is defined by the clear waters of the 12,500-acre lake and the oak hickory hills and bluffs of the southern Ozark foothills; Tenkiller draws anglers, scuba divers and sailors in part because of water clarity, prevailing winds and many secluded coves. Fishing here can produce black bass, white bass, striped bass, crappie and catfish, and the trout stream below the dam is one of only two year-round trout fisheries in Oklahoma, regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Three nearby nature trails (ranging from about 1.25 miles to just over 2 miles) wind past rock formations, overlook points and frequent wildlife deer and turkey are common, and migratory birds such as bald eagles and pelicans move through the flyway. Hunting is permitted on most project lands outside of developed parks and dam areas under state and federal rules; maps and hunting-area details are available from the project office and in the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation atlas. To plan logistics and confirm rules (including hunting regulations), contact the Corps/park office Strayhorn Landing lies roughly northeast of Gore along Highway 100 with a short access from Highway 10A so you arrive prepared for the lake's mix of boating, hiking, scuba and shore-based recreation.
