“Big Bend was very peaceful and the spot we got by the water was plenty spacious to have a little friendly interaction with our neighbors but still by nice and peacefully quite.”
“Well maintained, family friendly campground. Park personnel are always helpful.”

Big Bend sits along the northern shore of Canton Lake in northwest Oklahoma on the North Canadian River, a few miles from the small town of Canton and reached by Highway 51 and a paved county road. The campground contains 113 sites in total 112 that accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site and many sites look out over open water. Park facilities include a day-use group picnic shelter, four boat ramps for easy water access, a disc golf course in the Big Bend day-use area, and picnic and playground space for families. The shoreline here features gently sloping sandy beaches that invite swimming and sunbathing, while the broad stretch of water paralleling the dam is a favored lane for water skiing and tubing because winds are typically lighter there. Scattered native and planted trees cottonwood, oaks, willow, elm and silver maple among them supply pocketed shade along campsites and day areas, and the Corps-run recreation complex nearby adds a nature trail, overlook visitor center, outdoor amphitheater, scenic drive across the dam with fishing-jetty pullouts, and even an active prairie dog town. Outdoor opportunities concentrate on water and wildlife: Canton Lake is widely known for its walleye and supports crappie, white bass, hybrid bass, channel catfish and largemouth bass; the lake's annual Walleye Rodeo in mid-May draws anglers regionally. Boating, personal watercraft use, tubing, fishing, hiking and wildlife viewing are all primary activities, and a large public hunting area managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (about 14,862 acres) provides year-round hunting for quail, deer, turkey, dove and waterfowl. Local services and supplies are available along access roads and at a commercial concession on the lake, and restaurants, a casino and a 9-hole golf course sit within a few miles; Roman Nose and Glass Mountains state areas are roughly a 30-minute drive away. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates the site, so campers should check the Corps website or Recreation.gov for current fees, reservation rules, seasonal openings and any access requirements before arriving.
