“Clean, quiet campground paved to level gravel sites. Rangers and hosts were friendly and helpful and working hard to keep the park clean and safe. Beautiful views of the lake from almost every site. ”
“It was a beautiful day, the campground was well manicured and everything in the motorhome worked.”

Holter Lake Campground sits on the northern reaches of Holter Lake along the Missouri River, about 45 miles north of Helena and roughly between Helena and Great Falls off I-15 near the Craig/Wolf Creek exits. The site contains 56 campsites in total: 42 configured as RV sites and 14 that accommodate both RVs and tents. Those sites are arranged primarily in two loops Loop A (33 sites) and the Holter Lake loop (13 sites) with spacious, level gravel parking pads that will take trailers, motorhomes and tent rigs; most sites can accommodate up to two units of any combination. There are potable water spigots throughout the campground and day-use areas, garbage dumpsters, and fire rings with grill grates plus picnic tables at Loop A and the designated tent sites. There are no electrical or sewer hookups, day-use and overnight dock slips are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and a large concrete boat launch and courtesy dock make the lake easy to access for powerboats, ski boats and smaller craft. Outdoor opportunities cluster right at camp: every campsite has a view toward the lake and surrounding hills, and the shoreline and nearby public lands give quick access to boating, water skiing, motorized and non-motorized boating, fishing, hunting access points, birding and wildlife viewing, plus hiking and scenic photography. Gates of the Mountains is visible in the wider corridor and is reachable by watercraft; the area also sits along the historic Lewis and Clark travel corridor. Camping is reservation-based (sites are reservation-only, though walk-up availability after 2 p.m. may occur and is not guaranteed), and the fee is $25 per RV/trailer/tent with a maximum of two units per site. Cancellation rules follow recreation.gov policy: a $10 service fee is withheld from refunds, cancellations the day before or on arrival incur the $10 fee and forfeiture of the first night's use fee (one-night reservations forfeit the full amount), so check recreation.gov for current availability and to manage bookings.
