“The host couple was fantastic! We appreciated how promptly and professionally they handled our situation. They delivered great service and would recommend for a day use 100%!”
“No campground host on site and group site campers had loud music and talking going til 2am; also had people hanging out in day parking lot by beach talking til we yelled out camper window at them. Definitely not a fisherman's campground - no early risers but us :(”

White Sandy Campground sits on the west shore of Hauser Lake where Prickly Pear Creek joins the reservoir, with campsites arranged to face Eldorado Bar and the ridgelines of the Big Belt Mountains. The site is set in a shrub-steppe of sagebrush and bunchgrasses with occasional ponderosa and deciduous trees, so shade is limited and campers should plan for exposure on hot days (the lake does help moderate temperatures). There are 31 sites in total 30 designed for RVs and one tent site each with a level gravel parking pad, a picnic table and a metal fire ring with grill grate; potable water, vault toilets in each loop and near the beach/boat launch, and garbage dumpsters are available across the campground. A large concrete boat launch with a courtesy dock, areas to beach boats, and a fish-cleaning station at the day-use lot make the site especially convenient for anglers and boaters, and a small general store sits just across the entrance. If you need an RV dump, Black Sandy State Park is only about a quarter mile up the road and offers a free dump station for White Sandy guests. Recreation opportunities begin at your site and extend into the larger Hauser Lake area: White Sandy has a sandy beach, picnic areas, small pavilions, trails that crisscross the lakeshore, and a reservable ramada/pavilion equipped with power and lights for group use. Beyond the campground are multiple fishing accesses, hunting and wildlife-viewing spots, boating and swimming, and an extensive network of mountain bike and hiking trails on public lands nearby; Helena is a short drive south for supplies, dining and cultural stops. Reservations are required and sites are managed through recreation.gov; fees are $25 per night per camping unit (maximum two units per site). Group Loop C with the ramada/pavilion is reserved as a unit at $140 per night (six sites = up to 12 units, with the same two-unit/site limit). Important policies: check-in time is 2:00 PM and you must occupy your reserved site each night of the reservation or you forfeit the site after 24 hours with no refund; you also must use the specific site you reserved and may not move to other sites or loops. Cancellations incur a $10 service fee from refunds; cancelling the day before or on arrival results in a $10 fee plus forfeiture of the first night's fee (one-night reservations are forfeited in full), and group overnight facilities cancelled less than 14 days before arrival lose the first night's fee in addition to the $10 service charge.
