“Absolutely incredible campground with amazing access. Had everything I needed within a short walk, people were quiet and there was plenty of views. Would do site R110 or any site I saw there again in a heartbeat.”
“Absolutely one of the best places I’ve ever stayed in a national park. Easy to find, park, set up a fire and enjoy a peaceful night before hiking up to Grinnel. Glacier became one of not my favorite park in the United States and the campground was part of that.”

Perched at about 4,500 feet on the east side of Glacier National Park, Many Glacier Campground is a forested base camp set just before the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn at the end of Many Glacier Road. The campground contains 103 sites total 59 in the East Loop and 44 in the West Loop with every site configured to accept both tents and RVs, though sites and driveways are generally small. Potable water is available at shared spigots, restrooms have flush toilets and cold running sinks, and camper utility sinks are provided for gray water; each campsite has a picnic table and most spots sit under a canopy of Douglas fir, lodgepole pine and quaking aspen that offers partial shade and some wind protection. A portion of sites are designated generator-free and others allow limited generator hours; be sure to read individual site descriptions carefully because most campsites will not accommodate towed units over 21 feet, only a limited number will fit 26 30 foot towed rigs, and many sites cannot handle RV slide-outs if you require slide-outs the park recommends reserving at St. Mary Campground 22 miles away. Cell coverage is absent in the campground (limited service is available in Babb, about 12 miles east), the site is unstaffed, and for up-to-date information, fees, reservations and seasonal openings call the park's main office at (406) 888-7800. The setting opens directly onto trails and water: Swiftcurrent Creek and Lake lie within easy reach and the surrounding peaks Altyn, Henkel, Wilbur, Grinnell Point, Allen and Wynn frame many vistas. Many Glacier's trailheads sit at relatively high elevation compared with the west side of the park, so approaches to alpine bowls and viewpoints are often shorter but move quickly into true backcountry; the area is classic grizzly and black bear country, so hiking in groups, making noise on the trail and carrying (and knowing how to use) bear spray are essential. From the campground you can access a wide range of park activities day hikes and multi-night backpacking, boating and paddling on Swiftcurrent Lake, fishing, wildlife viewing, horseback riding and horse camping, plus auto touring along Many Glacier Road and connections to the historic chalets and the Going-to-the-Sun Road. If you have time and the proper paperwork, Waterton Lakes in Canada is the sister park and a compelling cross-border side trip.
