Rachel H ★ 4 · Oct 2025Great location easily accessed and secluded from the other camp sites. Really enjoyed the personal space for the group. Nice views out over the valley. Moose and deer visited. Cell service good. One 2 very slight draw backs: day use area neighbors the site, which brought few guests nearby, and using the vault toilet on the edge of the group site which is designated for the group site use. And the hwy is right there, so occasional vehicle noise. Worth it though.

Quigley Group Use sits on the high crest of MacDonald Pass at about 6,300 feet, where lodgepole pine and Douglas fir shade a compact, undeveloped clearing right on the Continental Divide. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail passes a few hundred feet from camp (CDNST mile 616) and the surrounding terrain opens into a mix of meadows, timbered slopes and rugged ridgelines that support a wide variety of wildlife deer, elk, moose, black and grizzly bear, gray wolf and mountain lion are all known in the area. The site is roughly 15 miles west of Helena along US-12 at the top of MacDonald Pass and sits adjacent to public forest roads that lead west toward the Little Blackfoot road system and east toward Rimini and Priest Pass; those road systems make motorized exploration and visits to old mining relics easy, while lands to the north and south are more sparsely roaded for a quieter, non-motorized experience. Hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders and hunters can find immediate access to trails here, and photographers and backcountry travelers will appreciate being so close to a major long-distance route without being in a developed campground. Quigley is offered as a single group campsite (one site total) that functions for both RV and tent use and can accommodate roughly 40 people space generally fits 10 12 four-person tents and there is limited trailer parking (trailers should not exceed 20 feet). The area is undeveloped: there are no water hookups or electrical services and only one vault toilet on site, so groups should bring their own water and supplies; many larger groups arrange for portable toilets to be delivered and removed at their own expense. The site is available for rental from June 1 through October 15 each year (closed the rest of the year) and carries a $50 per night group fee. Because Quigley sits near a popular trailhead and a nearby fee campground, you should expect to encounter other recreationists through the summer months.
