Cape Fair Campground sits along the James River Arm of Table Rock Lake in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, where oak and hickory woods slope down to bright blue water and a long, sheltered shoreline. The campground has 47 sites in total 46 sites set up to accommodate both RVs and tents and one tent-only site many positioned right at the water's edge so you can cast a line from your campsite or step out to the campground's spacious shoreline. Facilities are practical and straightforward: electric hookups, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station and a large reservable group picnic shelter. A marked swim beach and a playground are within easy walking distance of the sites, and the Cape Fair Boat Dock and Marina that serves the campground provides fuel, storage and equipment rentals for boaters and anglers. Recreational options spill from the campground into the lake and surrounding forest. Fishing is a major draw here this upper James River Arm is known for strong angling right off the campground while boaters take advantage of water-skiing, wakeboarding and tubing; several commercial boat cruises operate on Table Rock Lake seasonally. Hikers will appreciate the nearby Table Rock Lakeshore Trail (about two miles between the Dewey Short Visitor Center and Table Rock State Park Marina), where spring wildflowers and dogwood and redbud blooms give way to vivid fall foliage. Mountain biking and further trail access are available in parts of the Mark Twain National Forest that are easy to reach from Cape Fair, and the Dewey Short Visitor Center at the south end of the dam offers environmental exhibits and films plus a courtesy dock for arriving boaters. Gate attendants can answer questions on-site but cannot make reservations by phone call (877) 444-6777 to reserve a site and Branson's grocery, gas and services are roughly 25 miles away for any last-minute supplies.
