What guests say

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (96 reviews, ★ 5.0). Not written or edited by us.

“Terry and Jeff are outstanding hosts! They are completely focused on the safety and enjoyment of the campers. They, and their people, keep the campground, clean, quiet, and comfortable.”

Anthony D 5 · Sep 2025 · Recreation.gov

“The little store there was never open. The camp host couldn't tell us where a dump station was to drain our black & gray water. What good is a host if they can't give information. Camping was great & the lake was beautiful. Will go again, but do my research ahead of time.”

About

Whiteface Reservoir Campground sits along the edge of a 4,980-acre impoundment in the Superior National Forest, roughly 29 miles south-southeast of Eveleth via Highway 53 and county roads. Campsites are set among mixed aspen, birch and maple stands; a few sites look directly over the water while most provide a shady, private feel. The facility contains 31 sites in all 24 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 7 designated for RV use and the layout includes a few hike-in options among those sites. The opposite shoreline is dotted with private residences, so lakeside solitude can vary by spot. Campground hosts are on site to assist visitors; for facility-specific questions or to confirm availability and any reservation rules, call (218) 453-8650. The campground is geared to anglers and boaters but has enough variety for families and day visitors: there's a boat launch with an adjacent fish-cleaning house, a small sandy swim beach, a playground, and five picnic areas. About 2.5 miles of hiking trails wind through the campground, and an on-site store stocks basics like firewood, bait, bug spray and snacks. Fees vary by site and service: nightly campsite rates run $22.00 or $24.00 for non-electric sites and $22.00 or $26.00 for electric sites (plus a $6 electric attribute fee); extra vehicles are $8.00 per night. Long-term rentals are available and priced either monthly ($395.00 no electric or $545.00 with electric) or seasonally ($1,040.00 no electric or $1,675.00 with electric) and are subject to mutual agreement. A group site with electric is also offered at $135.00 per night (maximum 45 people). Beyond the campground you'll find the broader recreational offerings of Superior National Forest boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, wildlife viewing and more all within a landscape that stretches along Minnesota's Arrowhead border with Canada.
