About

South Sandusky Campground sits along Sandusky Cove on Rend Lake, giving campers immediate access to the lake's shoreline, nearby beaches and the network of boat ramps that serve the reservoir. The campground's setting mixes open fields and wooded pockets, so mornings often bring wandering waterfowl on the cove and, as the seasons change, visits from white-tailed deer, wild turkey, foxes and raccoons. If you want lake activity, boaters and paddlers can launch nearby and spend the day on the water; on land there are trails for hiking and horseback riding, picnic sites and a visitor center with environmental-education programming within easy reach. For services beyond the park, the 27-hole Rend Lake Golf Course, Rend Lake Resort and local galleries and shops are a short drive away. Practical comforts are a strong point at South Sandusky. The campground has 127 reservable sites in total: 119 sites configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and eight tent-only sites. Every campsite includes electrical hookups, and the campground provides a dump station, hot showers, flush toilets and drinking water. Families will find two playgrounds and a volleyball court inside the loop, and the campground's layout around the cove keeps sites nicely spaced for privacy and shade. South Sandusky is reached from I-57 via Route 14 toward Rend City Road and the entrance road to Sandusky Cove; reservations are accepted for these sites, so check the official Rend Lake reservation system or visitor center for current availability, fees, seasonal dates and any site-specific rules before you arrive.
