“Water faucet, cabin door handle, and window were broke, when we arrived. Four days later they fixed the faucet. They told us someone would fix the other two, and no one did. The only other problem is the cabins had a lot of spiders. ”
“3 of the 30 amp breakers kept tripping. Other than the one issue very nice facility, fun for the kids on the beach. ”

Dale Miller Youth Campground sits on the southeast shore of Rend Lake, where wide grassy fields slope down toward the water and the surrounding mix of woods and open ground makes the area good for spotting deer, turkey, fox, raccoon, opossum and changing congregations of waterfowl through the year. Rend Lake itself spans roughly 19,000 acres of water and about 20,000 acres of surrounding land, so the campground feels part of a much larger recreation landscape: boat ramps, swimming beaches and miles of trails are all within easy reach, and nearby draws include the Rend Lake Resort and the 27-hole championship golf course. The campground's setting is practical as well as scenic sports and play facilities (a baseball field, basketball and tennis courts) sit beside a private beach and a playground, so most days here move easily between active group games and quieter shoreline time. Facilities at Dale Miller were built with groups in mind. There are five open-floor cabins that can accommodate air mattresses and similar arrangements, and communal amenities include a large enclosed picnic shelter with electricity, tables, a fireplace and a grill; altogether the site is reported to handle up to 200 guests. For individual camping the verified campsite inventory lists a single campsite that is classified for both RV and tent use; beyond that, the property hosts a handful of tent spaces and nine RV pads in earlier descriptions, but the official campsite count to note is one combined RV/tent site. Because policies, fees and seasonal availability can change, plan to contact the Rend Lake area office or recreation.gov for current reservation rules and rates; the campground is accessed from the southeast side of the lake, a few miles west of Interstate 57 near Route 14 and the Main Dam Road, making it an easy base for boating, fishing, hiking, environmental programs and other lakewide recreation.
