“Best night sky view ever as there is very little on the horizon obstructing view. It was also one of the quietest nights I've had, sans some wildlife. Not sure if there is much to do there in the daytime. Facilities were clean.”
“ Amp was clean and quite very nice. No Atv running ”

Blackfoot Reservoir stretches across as much as 18,000 surface acres when full, making it the second-largest reservoir in southeastern Idaho; its design maximum water surface elevation is 6,124 feet, with the main dam standing 55 feet above the streambed and storing about 413,000 acre-feet of usable water. The reservoir's primary purpose is irrigation for lands on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation and surrounding farms, and that management split shows on the ground: the Bureau of Indian Affairs oversees the reservoir while the Bureau of Land Management operates the Blackfoot Reservoir Campground and five nearby campgrounds along the Blackfoot River. On the water anglers can expect healthy runs of rainbow and cutthroat trout (alongside carp), and several islands host colonies of pelicans, cormorants and gulls; the shallow edges and mudflats also attract waterfowl, water birds and shorebirds, so wildlife viewing and birding are part of the draw in addition to boating, swimming, fishing and seasonal hunting in the broader area. The campground itself is a developed BLM site with 16 developed campsites, 12 semi-developed sites and six day-use spots including one large group site; campsites are operated on a first-come, first-served basis there is no reservation system in place so plan to arrive early in peak season. Facilities include a boat ramp, vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, parking areas, an accessible fishing trail, electrical hookups and a dump station; rules and more detailed site information are posted at the campground. Fees are modest and straightforward: $10 per vehicle per night in the developed camping area (additional vehicles in a developed site are $5 each per night), $5 per vehicle per night in the semi-developed area, and electricity is an extra $5 per night. Day-use vehicles pay $5 per day (or you can buy a seasonal pass for $50). From Soda Springs head roughly 11 miles north on Idaho 34 and follow the signs to the reservoir entrance.
