“Easy check in and well maintained park. Don’t typically use bath facilities so I cannot speak to that. ”
“The camp bowery was full of cow manure and the bathrooms looked like they havent been maintained for a while but it wasnt a big deal and we cleaned them all up. The camp was super fun and enjoyable.”

Big Springs Campground sits at about 6,500 feet on the banks of Pebble Creek, roughly 16 miles east of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. The creek is home to cutthroat and rainbow trout, and an easy loop the Big Springs Nature Trail starts right in the campground and follows the water. The multi-use Boundary Trail also begins here, providing immediate access for hikers, mountain bikers, equestrians and off-road vehicle riders to a network of nearby routes. The campground's character shifts between two distinct loops: Loop A under tall Douglas firs that give partial shade, and Loop B set among a grove of aspens with more open sun; surrounding sagebrush, grasses and summer wildflowers give the site a montane, semi-arid feel. For broader recreation, Lava Hot Springs is close enough for a day trip (soaking pools, an Olympic-size pool with slides and diving platforms, and two linked nine-hole disc golf courses), and tubing on the Portneuf River is popular with rentals available in town. The campground is compact but well-equipped: there are 16 campsites in total 14 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 2 equestrian sites with horse corrals and hitching racks and a single large group site that can hold up to 175 people and includes a shelter, tables, a campfire ring, grills and parking. Several single and double family sites offer picnic tables, fire rings and grills; some sites have steps between the parking spur and the site pad, and the less shady Loop B sites include picnic shelters. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided, and campground hosts along with periodic county sheriff patrols offer on-site presence. Access is by way of a narrow, single-lane dirt road off Old Highway 30 (locally called Blaser Highway) and Forest Road 036; that road has limited sight distance and is not suitable for very large, tour-bus-size RVs. For current conditions, seasonal openings, fees or reservation details, call the facility at (541) 351-1182.
