Duckett Mill Campground sits on the shores of Lake Sidney Lanier in the rolling foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge, roughly an hour's drive north of Atlanta. The campground contains 109 sites in total: 95 sites designed to accommodate both RVs and tents (each with water and electric hookups) and 14 tent-only sites for those traveling light. You'll find the usual campground infrastructure restrooms and showerhouses, a laundry facility, and a children's playground spread among wooded sites that open toward the lake. A public boat ramp is located just outside the campground and a swimming beach is available for campers, so launching a kayak, towing a tube, or settling in for a lakeside swim are easy to work into your day. The surrounding landscape is a mix of shoreline and farmland around Lanier's 38,000 surface acres, and the area's elevation and tree cover give evenings a cooling, sheltered feel compared with the nearby city. Recreation on and around Lake Lanier is extensive: within the lake system you'll find boating and water-sports opportunities, fishing, swimming areas, and miles of shoreline for wildlife viewing and picnicking; on land, the broader area supports hiking, biking, horseback riding, and environmental-education programs at nearby parks. Don Carter State Park and Sawnee Mountain Preserve are close by if you want longer trails, birding, or panoramic views, while small nearby towns such as Dawsonville and Gainesville offer services and dining. Duckett Mill is a staffed location call local staff at (470) 774-7897 for campground-specific questions and reservations are handled through recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. If your plans change, note that cancellations must be completed through the online or phone reservation system or in person at the gatehouse; cancellation calls to the gatehouse will not be honored.
