Bolding Mill Campground sits on the northwest shore of Lake Sidney Lanier, set among the forested foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge where the reservoir's aqua-blue water meets grassy, shady campsites. The campground provides 95 sites in total: 86 sites configured for both RVs and tents with electric and water hookups (no sewer), plus nine tent-only primitive sites for lighter-footprint camping. On-site comforts include restroom and shower houses, a laundry facility, a fishing pier and a concrete swimming beach with a gentle slope and ADA access, plus picnic shelters and a playground near the park entrance. Boat access is direct from the park's ramp, and there are two dump stations (one inside and one outside the campground) that rotate use by year; the location is staffed and local staff can be reached at (470) 774-7875 for questions during your stay. The campground is a practical base for the wide range of Lake Lanier recreation: you can launch a boat and fish right from Bolding Mill, swim at the beach, or spread out a picnic on the shore; beyond the campground, the broader Lake Lanier area supports biking, hiking, horseback riding, environmental programs, water sports and wildlife viewing across its 38,000 surface acres and thousands of shoreline miles. Bolding Mill is reachable north of Atlanta via SR 400 toward Exit 17 and is close to regional attractions such as Don Carter State Park and Sawnee Mountain Preserve, with towns like Gainesville and Dawsonville nearby for supplies and dining. Reservations and fee payment are handled through recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777, and cancellations must be made through that online/phone reservation system.
