Pink Jeep Campground is a small, primitive site tucked into the Bear Island Unit of Big Cypress National Preserve, offering nine campsites (listed as 9 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites) for pickup-camper and tent camping only; trailers and full-size RVs are not permitted in the backcountry. The approach is off the Turner River Road corridor roughly 20 miles inland from US-41, and the final miles require a permitted off-road vehicle (ORV) and gate code, or arrival by bicycle or on foot cell service is limited, so plan accordingly and make reservations in advance. Facilities are basic but functional: each of the nine sites has a picnic table, fire ring, and access to shared food storage, while vault toilets serve the campground; there is no potable water onsite, so bring everything you need for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. The surrounding landscape is classic Big Cypress: low, freshwater swamp country where tropical and temperate plant communities mingle and support a wide variety of wildlife, including the endangered Florida panther. Pink Jeep is a practical base for backcountry pursuits Bear Island offers more than 20 miles of trails for permitted ORV use, and nearby opportunities include hiking, biking, hunting and fishing (check myfwc.com for regulations). Everglades City and the Big Cypress Swamp Welcome Center sit roughly 30 miles to the south for supplies, dining, and additional park access, and park staff can answer ORV questions at 239-695-1117; for facility-specific information call (239) 631-9988.
