“Host was very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice big open spaces. Very quiet. I would recommend this site!”
“Basic campsites around an alligator lake, we enjoyed it very much. Good pointers from the host to see the area.”

Burns Lake Campground sits on the edge of a small lake within Big Cypress National Preserve, with every one of its 14 campsites positioned for a water view. The loop is small and shaded by taller pine stands that give the feeling of being out in the swamp country while remaining off the major highway; it's located along U.S. 41 at about mile marker 67 between Naples and Miami. The site mix is compact and practical: eight sites configured for RVs and six tent-only sites, with a day-use picnic area, vault toilets, and an off-road vehicle parking lot and access point. There is no fresh water available at the campground, so plan to bring your own potable supply and minimal gear for self-sufficiency. This campground is set up for people who want direct access to backcountry pursuits: permitted off-road vehicles can launch from the parking area into the preserve, hunters use the campground as a staging point, and anglers can fish the lake and surrounding waters with the appropriate license. Beyond the immediate campground you'll find the broader Preserve's offerings hiking, paddling, wildlife viewing (including chances to see a range of marsh and estuarine species), auto touring and nearby historic and cultural sites. Local outfitters run airboat and swamp-buggy tours, and there are museums, galleries and boardwalks within easy reach; several other national and state parks are also nearby. For up-to-date information on permits, seasons, fees or reservation policies, and any other facility-specific questions, call the preserve at (239) 631-9988 before you head out.
