“This specific site was great. It was quite wooded and relatively private, not a far walk to the bathrooms and trash. ”
“Really nice campground with plenty of nice sites. Campground host nice fellow. Loved that the Colorado Trail passes right through. Other nice trails in the area...you don't have to drive to get to a trailhead!”

Lakeview Campground sits at about 9,500 feet in a ponderosa pine and sage landscape with a commanding view of the Twin Lakes Reservoir and the high peaks beyond. The campground is roughly 20 miles south of Leadville and is reached by following Highway 24 toward the Twin Lakes/Top of the Rockies corridor and then onto Lake County Road 24; Mount Elbert (14,433 ft) looms nearby to the west while the Mount Massive and Collegiate Peaks wilderness areas lie to the north and south. The Continental Divide Trail runs right through the area (the non-motorized trail passes the campground), and a designated stretch from Halfmoon Road south to Twin Lakes allows mountain biking; for water users, a nearby boat dock provides access to Twin Lakes Reservoir where sailing, water-skiing and fishing for lake, rainbow and mackinaw trout are popular. Beyond the campground you'll find miles of forest and grassland opportunities hiking, wildlife viewing, climbing approaches to the high country, horseback trailheads and routes for off-highway vehicles exist within the broader Pike/San Isabel and Comanche/Cimarron lands. Practical details are straightforward: Lakeview has 51 single-family sites total, with 34 sites configured for both RVs and tents and 17 designated RV sites, arranged across six loops (Loop A: 13 sites; B: 5; C: 7; D: 7; E: 13; F: 6). Each campsite includes a picnic table and campfire ring; the campground provides vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection, and firewood can be purchased from the host. An extra-vehicle fee of $10 applies. Reservations are subject to cancellation fees canceling up to two days before your reservation incurs a $10 fee; canceling the day before or on arrival day results in a $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's use fee (including tax and any applicable add-ons); one-night reservations forfeited in full if canceled. No-shows are assessed a $20 service fee and forfeit the first night's rate, taxes and add-ons. Refund requests must be submitted through your Recreation.gov profile within seven days after your reservation ends; card refunds are returned to the original payment card, while check or cash refunds are issued by Treasury check (allow 6 8 weeks). In addition, note that unmanned aircraft (drones) are regulated on National Forest and Grassland lands and must be operated in compliance with current Forest Service and federal rules.
