About

Aspenglen Campground sits on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park just inside the Fall River Entrance, a short drive from Estes Park along U.S. Highway 34. The campground contains 47 sites in total: 26 that accommodate both RVs and tents and 21 tent-only sites, several of which are set back from the road as walk-to, more secluded pitches. Campsites come with a picnic table, a fire ring with a grate and a tent pad; roads and parking spurs are paved and you'll find flush toilets and drinking water on site. Generator use is restricted to Loop C only, with permitted hours from 7:30 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 8:30 p.m. Reservation policy changes with the season during the summer the campground is reservation-only and sites are released on varying schedules (some up to a six-month rolling window, others two weeks or one week prior). Availability indicators on the reservation system show open sites as "A" and those not yet released as "NR"; note that in winter 2023 2024 Aspenglen's C-Loop was operating on a first-come, first-served basis. The summer nightly rate has been $35.00 since October 12, 2022. The setting here reflects the park's range of mountain environments: Aspenglen is framed by stands of Douglas fir, lodgepole and ponderosa pines with occasional Engelmann spruce, and open meadows that fill with grasses, shrubs and seasonal wildflowers. From the campground it's an easy jump into the broader offerings of Rocky Mountain National Park more than 350 miles of trails for everything from flat lakeside walks to steep climbs, abundant wildlife viewing (elk and mule deer are commonly seen; black bear, coyote, bighorn sheep and moose also inhabit the park), and scenic drives like Trail Ridge Road and Old Fall River Road that climb into alpine tundra above the trees. On the service side, the Town of Estes Park is close by for dining, shopping and outfitting, and Lake Estes provides boating, sailboarding and fishing; within the park visitors can also expect options for biking, climbing, horseback riding, fishing, picnicking and historic- and cultural-site visits.
