About

Crystal Springs Campground sits at about 6,500 feet in the rugged central Sierra Nevada within Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, planted in a mixed conifer stand of sugar pine, incense cedar, fir and towering sequoia. The campground contains 34 individual sites that can accommodate both tents and RVs, and each site includes a picnic table, a fire ring and a bear-proof food storage box; flush toilets and potable water are available on site. Sites are sized to host groups of one to six people, and in addition the area offers 14 mid-size group sites that can be reserved through recreation.gov for larger gatherings. Summer days here are typically warm and dry with cool nights; wildlife is common around camp expect mule deer, black bears, gray and golden-mantled ground squirrels and a variety of resident birds so use the provided food storage boxes and follow bear-safety guidance. From Crystal Springs you can step onto several classic park outings without long drives: a nearby trail leads to the Sequoia Grove that includes the General Grant Tree (the Nation's Christmas Tree and a living military memorial), while hikes to Ella Falls (a 50-foot cascade) and to Panoramic Point reward you with high Sierra views. Grant Grove Village is close by for visitor services the Kings Canyon Visitor Center, a small market, post office, restaurant and a gift shop and the amphitheater there hosts nightly campfire programs in season. Entrance fees apply to the park (e.g., a 1 7 day vehicle pass is $35; $20 per person on foot/bike; $30 per motorcycle) and camping is $32 per night (reduced to $16 for holders of a valid lifetime Access Pass, lifetime Senior Pass, or annual Senior Pass). Reservations are handled through recreation.gov with payment charged in full at booking; a $10 service fee applies to most changes or cancellations and late cancellations forfeit the first night's use fee. Important note: if your reserved site remains vacant for 24 hours after your arrival date it will be cancelled, you'll be charged for the first night plus a $10 cancellation fee (recreation.gov policies apply), so call the campground at (559) 565-4357 if you expect to arrive late or need facility-specific information. Also, vehicles over 22 feet are not advised on the Sequoia park route between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum; larger rigs should use the Kings Canyon entrance.
