“Loved our site. Was private with the trees. Nice being a tad off the water as it wasn’t as windy. Spent most of our time in the water relaxing. Only downside is that it very loud at night with numerous campers bringing large speakers. ”
“Fabulous place, campground wonderful, lake and scenery beautiful ”

Burnt Corral Campground sits at about 1,914 feet along the western shore of Apache Lake, where the Sonoran Desert's signature saguaros and stands of mesquite and palo verde rise from rocky washes. The lake here stretches into a 17-mile finger of water the longest of the lower Salt River reservoirs below Roosevelt Dam so much of the campground's appeal revolves around the water: there are developed and undeveloped launch points, a paved boat launch and a boarding dock that make motorboating, water-skiing, paddling, fishing and swimming easy to arrange from your site. Away from the shoreline you'll find short hiking opportunities and off-road jeep routes, plus wide-open views toward the Four Peaks and the Superstition Wilderness that attract photographers and wildlife viewers. If you want options beyond the campground, the wider Tonto National Forest supports auto touring, biking, climbing, horseback riding and other outdoor pursuits. The campground provides 79 individual sites each designed to accommodate both RVs and tents and every site includes a parking spur, a fire ring with grill, a picnic table and a shade ramada to help compensate for the otherwise sparse desert canopy. Amenities on site include vault toilets, potable water hydrants, six day-use picnic units and easily accessible lake facilities; the recreation area also offers access for visitors who are mobility impaired. Burnt Corral lies roughly 5 6 miles south of Roosevelt Dam along AZ-88 (Apache Trail); note that access from Tortilla Flat on AZ-88 is currently closed, so approach via AZ-188 from the Mesa or Globe directions as directed by local road signs. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations and seasonal road conditions, check with the Tonto National Forest office before you go; nearby points of interest include Roosevelt Dam, Apache Lake Marina, Tonto National Monument's cliff dwellings, Tortilla Flat and the Apache Trail scenic byway.
