Pine Flat Campground West sits in the upper reaches of Oak Creek Canyon, a heavily wooded riparian stretch of Coconino National Forest a short drive along State Route 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff. The campground's 54 sites are set among ponderosa pines, and many campsites sit right on the bank of Oak Creek where cool, clear water runs through the canyon; the creek is regularly stocked with trout and offers easy spots for wading and swimming on hot days. Each site is configured to accommodate both RVs and tents, and the loop includes two accessible sites. Picnic tables, campfire rings, cooking grills, vault toilets and drinking water are provided; there are no electrical or sewer hookups and no shower facilities, so plan to be self-contained. Because this is a wooded, riparian environment, shade is abundant but conditions can be damp in places pack appropriate gear and check current fire restrictions before lighting a campfire. The campground places you within walking range of creekside paths and several trailheads that climb the canyon slopes for broader views of the red-rock country around Sedona; the immediate area is popular for fishing, birding and short hikes, while Slide Rock State Park a long-favored swimming and natural slide area is just down the road. Beyond the canyon you have access to the wider 1.8-million-acre Coconino National Forest, where auto touring, biking, climbing, horseback riding, winter sports and other outdoor activities are available across diverse landscapes. For facility-specific information including current fees, reservation rules and seasonal availability call (928) 203-0624 before you go.
