Tucker Hollow sits on the upper reaches of Bull Shoals Lake in the Arkansas side of the Ozark Mountains, where hardwood ridges and cedar glades give way to towering rocky bluffs and unusual rock formations along the shoreline. The reservoir itself built on the White River in 1951 for flood control covers about 71,000 acres and stretches roughly 80 miles, so water is the centerpiece here: fishing, canoeing, jet skiing and other water sports are easy to access from the park, and nearby marinas rent boats, carry supplies and can connect you with local guides. Seasons change the character of the place; summer fills the hills with dense green growth while fall produces the area's well-known "Flaming Fall Revue," and the shoreline and adjacent forests also attract birders, wildlife viewers and naturalists. On land you'll find opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and, in season, hunting; the park is also close to Bull Shoals-White River State Park trails such as the Big Bluff Trail, with views down to the river below the dam, and the Lakeside Trail that follows the water's edge. The campground at Tucker Hollow is compact and straightforward 29 sites in total, 28 that accommodate both RVs and tents and a single tent-only site so it tends to feel quieter and more intimate than larger lake parks. All campsites provide electric hookups with 50-amp service, which is convenient for larger RVs; two picnic shelters are available for group gatherings but do not have electricity. Families will appreciate the on-site swimming beach and playground, and there are modern camping conveniences scattered around Bull Shoals Lake through the park system. Access is practical: the park lies about 10 miles northwest of Lead Hill via state highways 14 and 281, with signs directing you into the campground from SR 281. If you make a reservation, note the cancellation policy cancellations up to two days before your reservation start date incur a $10 fee and plan according to the season you prefer, since each brings different recreational highlights.
