Millers Ferry Campground sits on the east bank of William "Bill" Dannelly Reservoir, a broad reach of the Alabama River that covers roughly 27 square miles and produces more than 500 miles of shoreline across the Black Prairie Belt. The immediate landscape alternates between open, rolling grasslands underlain by the region's dark prairie soils and pockets of hardwood and pine forest, creating good edges for wildlife; whitetail deer and wild turkey are commonly seen, and the area is known for bow-hunting in season. Boating and fishing are the campground's main draws anglers chase bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish and the area regularly hosts tournaments and local festivals while hikers, birders and water-sports enthusiasts will find ample places to explore along the reservoir. If you want more built services beyond the campground, the broader Alabama River Lakes region also supports picnic beaches, launching ramps, and privately owned lodges and resorts. The campground's developed side is straightforward and practical: TOTAL CAMPSITES: 66, and SITE TYPE BREAKDOWN: 66 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites, so every site can accommodate tents and RVs. Park information also identifies 42 family sites with electric hookups; other on-site conveniences include flush toilets and showers, drinking water, laundry facilities and a dump station, plus a boat ramp, fishing dock, fish-cleaning stations and a playground. Millers Ferry is reached about 12 miles northwest of Camden off State Route 28, just before the Lee Long Bridge, and is well suited to anglers, boaters and families who want basic modern hookups without the bustle of a larger resort complex. Specifics on fees, seasonal availability and reservation policies aren't provided here, so plan to check the managing office or the park's reservation website before you go.
