Isaac Creek Campground sits on the shore of Claiborne Lake in Alabama's southwest hill country, between the creek that gives it its name and a long stretch of river that remains close to its original banks. TOTAL CAMPSITES: 60 SITE TYPE BREAKDOWN: 60 Both RV Sites & Tent Sites. The campground operates year-round and each site offers electric hookups, with communal amenities that make longer stays practical: flush toilets and hot showers, drinking water, a dump station and on-site laundry. A picnic shelter, playground and a small basketball court give families and groups places to gather, and a dock, boat ramp and fish-cleaning stations put boats and angling gear directly to work on a lake known for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish. For planning, be aware that fees and reservation policies can change seasonally; check the managing agency or the reservation system before you go. The surrounding landscape is a mix of hardwoods and pines that frames shoreline fishing and water sports boating and water skiing are common pastimes when conditions allow and provides habitat for birds and other wildlife that attract birders and naturalists. Beyond water recreation, the broader Claiborne/Dannelly/Woodruff lake system supports hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing, and the more remote tracts of public land around Isaac Creek are used for bow and shotgun hunting for whitetail deer, wild turkey and hog where permitted. Access is straightforward from Monroeville: head north on State Route 41 for about eight miles, then west on County Road 17 and follow signage to the park.
