“Liked the campground and staff very helpful ”
“Nice, quiet, relaxing trip until new campers came in Saturday & Sunday with lots of barking dogs. There is still no internet available in the area of the park. This is very important with an elderly mother at home.”
“Longwood is a very nice campground! The sites are big, with great views. The bath house's are well kept.”

Longwood Park sits on the Grassy Creek arm of John H. Kerr Reservoir (Buggs Island Lake), where forested campsites drop down toward a 50,000-acre lake that stretches 39 miles along the Roanoke River. The campground provides 65 campsites that accommodate both tents and RVs, shaded by mature trees and arranged to give many sites a clear lakeside view. Onsite facilities include hot showers, flush toilets and a dump station, plus a small swimming beach and a picnic shelter that make the park a practical choice for families and mixed groups. Anglers and birders will find immediate access to the recreational bounty of Kerr Lake: largemouth and striped bass, crappie and flathead catfish are common targets, and the broader reservoir is ringed by 26 Wildlife Management Areas where hiking, wildlife viewing and licensed hunting occur under state rules. Clarksville is the closest town about 7 miles north on Highway 15 where you'll find groceries, gas and basic services; Clarksville Marina is roughly 15 minutes by road (about 30 minutes by water) if you need fuel, slips or launch ramps. Practical details you'll want to know before you arrive: Longwood is staffed seasonally from April 1 through October 31 (local staff can be reached at (434) 374-2711 during that period) and is unstaffed November 1 through March 31 (general information at (434) 738-6143). Reservations and fee policies follow Recreation.gov standards: you can extend or shorten a reservation without a change fee as long as the new dates include days from the original reservation, but switching to dates entirely outside the original booking incurs a $10 change fee; reservations that extend beyond the booking window cannot be altered until 18 days after the original booking. Cancellations processed before arrival will be refunded minus a $10 service fee; canceling the day before or on the day of arrival costs the $10 service fee plus forfeiture of the first night's rate (one-night reservations are nonrefundable). No-shows are charged a $20 service fee and lose the first night's rate and taxes. If you leave early, notify staff partial refunds may be possible but are subject to the facility's check-out rules (requests made after 3:00 p.m. on your scheduled check-out day are not eligible for refund for that night). Refunds are returned to the original payment method (cash/check refunds are issued by Treasury check and may take 6 8 weeks); in the event of an emergency closure all fees will be refunded and the facility will attempt to notify registered visitors.
