Sunrise Campground sits at about 7,800 feet on the west side of Bear Lake Summit, roughly six miles west of Garden City and the turquoise shoreline of Bear Lake. The site is shaded by a mixed conifer and aspen stand, with summer wildflowers and enough tree cover to give most sites a sense of privacy; the forested setting transitions quickly to open views along nearby ridgelines. Hikers and families will find the Limber Pine Trail less than half a mile away a gentle one-mile loop that passes a 500-year-old limber pine and Bear Lake Summit, a mile from the campground, has picnic tables and interpretive panels with views down to Bear Lake. The lake itself is the region's activity hub, six miles away, where boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, scuba diving and swimming mix with shoreline hiking, biking, horseback and off-highway vehicle trails; the larger Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest supports auto touring, fishing, wildlife viewing and interpretive programs as well. The campground is organized into two paved loops with a total of 26 sites: 24 single-family sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, and two glamping sites. Each single site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground provides vault toilets and drinking water; roads and parking spurs are paved. Fees are posted at reservation: single sites are $25 per night (each single site allows up to eight people and one vehicle), glamping sites are $110 per night (capacity eight; a deposit is required), day-use picnicking is $15, and extra vehicles are $10 per vehicle per day. Payments accepted include cash, check or Scan & Pay through the Recreation.gov app; transactions will appear on statements as "Recreation.gov 877-444-6777." Reservations and changes are handled through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777; a $10 service fee applies to most changes or cancellations, late cancellations can result in forfeiture of the first night's fee, no-shows may be assessed a $20 fee and forfeit use fees, and refund requests must be made within 14 days of departure (refunds are returned to the original payment method). For facility-specific questions call (385) 273-1100.
