“Such a beautiful quiet place! This was our second year and we already have next year booked! Clean camping spot including clean bathrooms! Saw the deer come through camp every morning and evening. Tropic reservoir is beautiful and quiet! We love it! ”
“Camp was clean, a lot of room, flushing and pit toilets. It was wonderful. A couple problems were broken pinic table bench was no longer bolted down and the water spigot in camp wasn’t working. We had to walk about 60 yards to get way. No big deal, but we felt the pain. ”

Kings Creek Campground sits at about 8,000 feet on the west side of Tropic Reservoir, on the high Colorado Plateau where the forested mountains slope down to the water. The developed footprint is small and straightforward: there are two individual campsites in the main loop (1 site designated for RVs and 1 tent-only site) and, separate from those, two reservable group sites that can be booked individually or together for larger gatherings. The group area is set apart from the individual sites and includes a large covered pavilion with picnic tables, while the rest of the campground offers flush toilets and a drinking-water faucet. A well-maintained gravel road brings cars and RVs reliably to the site; individual campsites are first-come, first-served, so plan accordingly and contact Dixie National Forest for current fees and seasonal opening dates if you need a reservation or are visiting shoulder season. Recreation here focuses on water and trail access: Tropic Reservoir lies below the campground and supports boating, canoeing and trout fishing (brook, rainbow, brown and cutthroat), with a public boat ramp about a half-mile away; the East Fork of the Sevier River is close by for additional fishing spots. Off-highway vehicle riders will find this location attractive the Fremont ATV trail passes within a quarter-mile of the campground and the Great Western Trail is nearby while numerous trailheads for hiking and mountain biking can be accessed directly from points in and around the campground. If you want to expand your day trips, Bryce Canyon National Park is roughly 12 miles away and Kodachrome Basin State Park about an hour's drive, and the broader Dixie National Forest area offers auto touring, wildlife viewing, horse riding and winter-sport opportunities depending on the season.
