“I was tent camping on a weekend with heavy thunderstorms and high winds. It ended up being a pleasant experience none the less due to the property being well maintained and well managed. The staff is very friendly. ”
“The site was clean, safe, and everyone in our family enjoyed everything.”

East Fork Campground sits on the southern shore of Lavon Lake, just northeast of Wylie, Texas, and serves as a convenient escape for Dallas-area visitors and travelers through North Texas. The campground contains 69 sites in total: 47 sites that accommodate both RVs and tents, 12 tent-only sites, and 10 equestrian sites. Many of the RV/tent sites offer water and electric hookups, and East Fork is the only campground at Lavon Lake to offer 50-amp electrical service; there are no sewer hookups at individual sites, but a dump station is available near the park entrance. You'll find hot showers, two boat ramps, a swimming beach, and a group campground that is open year-round and can hold up to 175 guests. Equestrian visitors should note that horses are permitted in the equestrian loop and each equestrian site includes a portable horse stall. Recreation at East Fork centers on the lake and the adjacent trail network: Lavon Lake covers about 21,400 acres and reaches depths near 59 feet, supporting boating, fishing, and a range of water sports off the campground's ramps and beach. A trailhead for the Trinity Trail begins next to the campground, making horseback riding and hiking easy without driving elsewhere, and the park also provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, picnicking, playground use, and other concession-based recreation and specialized sport sites. For cultural and educational outings, the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney with natural history exhibits and nature trails is a short drive away. For up-to-date information on fees, reservations, seasonal restrictions, and access details (for example RV size limits or group booking procedures), check the park's official resources or contact the park office before you go.
