“Park is very nice but bare bones. Water and views are gorgeous and not really a bad camp spot. Roads are rough!”
“Super clean and excellent host. Love this place ”

Clear Lake Campground sits along the shoreline of Lavon Lake, a 21,400-acre impoundment of the East Fork of the Trinity River, and is the only shaded camping area on the lake grassy flat fields threaded with leafy shade trees give most sites a sheltered, park-like feel. The campground has 23 total campsites; all 23 sites accommodate both RVs and tents and include water, sewer and electric hookups. For basic comfort there are hot showers on site, and anglers and boaters will appreciate the nearby boat ramp and a fishing dock right at the campground. The landscape is low and level, making sites easy to access and set up, and the shoreline position puts fishing, sunrises over water and birding within a few steps of your camp chair. The recreation options spread across Clear Lake and the broader Lavon Lake area: you can launch a boat, cast for channel catfish, crappie, striped bass and hybrid bass, hike nearby trails, picnic, or simply watch waterfowl and other wildlife. A separate group campground fits 200 people and includes a picnic shelter with electric and water hookups, four cookers, a campfire ring, a large playing field and toilets reserved solely for group campers. For services and attractions beyond the campground, the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney offers natural history exhibits and walking trails, and the town of Wylie has a wildlife rescue and education center with large carnivores on display. Clear Lake is about northeast of Dallas and is reached from US-380 near Princeton via County Road 436 into Clear Lake Park; for up-to-date fees, reservation rules and seasonal access, contact the managing office or check the park's official site before you go.
