About

Alley Creek Camp sits on the shore of Lake O' the Pines in the Ark-La-Tex portion of East Texas' piney woods, the reservoir itself covering roughly 18,700 acres of water with about 9,000 acres of surrounding land. The shoreline here favors boating and water sports there's a boat ramp on site and anglers will find largemouth, spotted and white bass, crappie, catfish and sunfish both from boats and from bank-fishing spots along the shore and below the Ferrell's Bridge Dam on Big Cypress Bayou. Wildlife viewing and birding are strong draws; the mix of open water, bays and pine-hardwood timber makes the area attractive to resident and migratory songbirds, and winter brings regular bald eagle sightings. Hunters use nearby public lands for white-tailed deer, waterfowl and small game, while towns a short drive away Jefferson and Marshall offer antiques, historic home tours and seasonal festivals if you want a break from the lake. The campground's layout and services are straightforward and practical: there are a total of 80 campsites 42 RV-only sites, 30 tent-only sites and 8 sites that can accommodate both RVs and tents and RV sites are equipped with water and electric hookups while tent sites include a picnic table, fire ring and lantern pole. In addition to individual sites, the park provides a group camping area with a shelter, restrooms and showers plus 12 RV sites with water and electric hookups. Restrooms with showers are located in each section of the park, and you'll also find trash receptacles throughout, a sewer dump station, a swimming beach and a children's playground. The gate house is staffed 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Monday Saturday and 12 p.m. 6 p.m. Sunday; for current fees, reservation procedures, seasonal notices or hunting regulations, contact the park directly before you go.
